Commonly used tool materials and cutting data
Figure 2-6-17 shows the material classification of cutting tools commonly used today. Among them, there are five main tool materials, namely high-speed steel, cemented carbide, cubic boron nitride, polycrystalline diamond and ceramics. Tool coating methods include physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
