1. Cylindrical milling cutter
For machining planes on horizontal milling machines. The cutter teeth are distributed on the circumference of the milling cutter, and are divided into straight teeth and helical teeth according to the tooth shape. According to the number of teeth, there are two kinds of coarse teeth and fine teeth. The helical-tooth coarse-tooth milling cutter has few teeth, high tooth strength, and large chip space, which is suitable for rough machining; fine-toothed milling cutter is suitable for finishing.
2. Face milling cutter
Also known as disc milling cutter, it is used for machining planes on vertical milling machines, face milling machines or gantry milling machines. There are cutter teeth on the end face and circumference, as well as coarse teeth and fine teeth. Its structure has three types: integral type, insert type and indexable type.
3. End mill
It is used for processing grooves and stepped surfaces, etc. The cutter teeth are on the circumference and end face, and cannot be fed in the axial direction during operation. Axial feed is possible when the end mill has end teeth that pass through the center.
4. Three-sided edge milling cutter
It is used to process various grooves and stepped surfaces, and there are cutter teeth on both sides and on the circumference.
5. Angle milling cutter
For milling grooves at an angle, there are two types of single-angle and double-angle milling cutters.
6. Saw blade milling cutter
For machining deep grooves and cutting workpieces, there are more teeth on the circumference. In order to reduce friction during milling, there are 15′~1° secondary declination angles on both sides of the cutter teeth. In addition, there are keyway milling cutters, dovetail milling cutters, T-slot milling cutters and various forming milling cutters.
7. T-shaped milling cutter
For milling T-slots.
8. Sharp tooth milling cutter
A narrow land is ground on the flank to form the relief angle, which has a high life due to the reasonable cutting angle. The tooth back of the sharp tooth milling cutter has three forms: straight line, curved line and broken line. Linear tooth backs are often used for fine-tooth finish milling cutters. The tooth strength of the curved and broken line tooth back is better, can bear heavier cutting load, and is often used for coarse tooth milling cutter
